A few hours passed since Thomas and the others called a relatively small facility located in the French Riviera. The facility was only meant for rescued cetaceans and had no theatrical presentations. This was perfect for Guy, since he didn't like the idea of performing high energy stunts in front of large crowds. He wasn't used to that kind of stuff. There was still only one problem though. Guy-Man still had to give up his humanity and behave like a normal killer whale. This would never sit well with him. The only times he has behaved out of character is when he's trying to be the mysterious golden robot that he portrays. This would also put the future of Daft Punk at risk. Without Guy there is no Daft Punk. The only way that he could do anything was if Thomas went to visit him every time he wrote a song, but this would put him at risk of being exploited for cash. A whale doing a backflip is already popular enough. A talking whale would get an immense amount of attention. The same kind of attention that he was trying to avoid. Guy tried to shrug this off in order to prevent putting anymore pressure on himself, but he just couldn't.
Thomas noticed the worried look in Guy's face, barely. The eyepatches that slanted downward towards the back and the black notches behind his mouth made him look like he was frowning all the time, but he was still capable of making noticeable facial expressions, something that he probably wouldn't do if he was a normal killer whale. Thomas wanted to comfort Guy, but he was still afraid of being attacked. He tried to convince himself that his fear was unjustified, but everythime he attempted to do so, his fear was just intensified by Guy's attitude. Miraculously, he managed to pull himself together and walked up to Guy.
"Guy-Man? Are you okay?"
"What do you think, dumbass?"
"Look, Guy, I understand that you're upset, but..."
"But what? Is there anything positive that I'm not seing or are you just too dumb to see what is going on?"
"Guy, I know what's going on."
"Then why are you acting as if it's not a big deal?"
"Because I don't want to put more pressure on you. Listen, I know how you feel, Guy. I understand that you're not comfortable with this situation, but you're gonna have to adapt to it."
"But that's the problem, Thomas. I can't adapt to it. Living in the wrong body is already bad enough, but the possibility that I won't be able to see you very often, the idea that we won't be making music together anymore, the fact that I won't be able to spend time with my family and..."
Thomas gained the courage to pat him on the back.
"Hey, it'll be alright. I'll try to find a way to fix all of those issues." His courage was destroyed by the sound of his best friend taking a breath. It was really loud, so loud that it sounded like an explosion. The sound absolutely terrified him. He flinched and backed away.
"Why the fuck are you scared?"
"What? I'm not scared."
"Yes, you are. I didn't see you flinch, but I felt you flinch."
"Well, you can't expect me to stay calm after you make such a loud noise."
"Oh well! I guess you're gonna have to 'adapt' to it."
"What? What does that even mean?"
"Aha! I win! You don't have a comeback!"
"Come on! That was lame."
"It still worked though."
"Yeah, I guess you have a point."
Thomas heard a knock on the front door.
"Oh! Looks like they're here."
"What? No! I don't want to leave yet!"
"Shhh! Calm down. It'll be fine. Just stay calm."
"Stay calm? Stay calm?!?! How can I 'just stay calm' when my one way trip to hell is about to start!"
"Dude, chill. It's not going to be hell. I picked the best place for you."
"Which is none of them. There's no facility out there that would allow a killer whale to talk without receiving massive amounts of attention and you know how much I fucking hate that."
"You don't even speak that much to begin with."
"Exactly! I'm the man of very few words, not the man of no words."
There was another knock on the front door.
"Come on, Thomas, please. Don't send me away like this. I promise I'll be a good whale."
"It's not about you being a good whale. It's about your well being."
"Yeah, I'm sure it's totally gonna make me feel better. I mean, forget the fact that I'm going to mute for the rest of my life. This sure is good for my well being."
"I thought you wanted to get out of this pool."
"Well, this pool is the lesser of two evils."
"How? You can't even turn around or submerge yourself properly."
"I DON'T CARE!! I'D RATHER BE STUCK IN THIS POOL IF IT MEANS THAT I'LL BE ABLE TO ACT LIKE A HUMAN!!!" Guy's sudden outburst was terrifying, but Thomas refused to let his fear blind him from seeing the emotional wreck that his friend was becoming. He tried to pat Guy on the back again to calm him down, but before he could do it, Guy snapped his jaws at him. That was a huge mistake. As if Guy's attitude wasn't scary enough, him snapping his jaws was horrifying to the point where Thomas ran away.
"No, Thomas! Don't go! I'm sorry!"
Thomas heard a third knock on the door before reaching to open it.
"No, don't answer the door!", Guy pleaded.
"Hello? This is the marine mammal rescue team", said a female voice.
Before Thomas could turn the doorknob, he heard Guy-Man yell once more.
"Don't fucking open that goddamn door, you cunt!"
Thomas ignored Guy's orders and opened the door. He was greated by a team of 6 rescuers, 4 men and 2 women.
"Good morning, sir. We're the marine mammal rescue team. We're here because someone had called in to tell us that there was a whale stuck in a backyard pool", said one of the two women, surprisingly taking the situation seriously.
"Yeah, that was me. Thank you for coming miss..."
"Thank you, Renée and the rest of your team for coming here to help."
"So, can we see the whale?"
"Oh, yeah, but be careful. He's kind of feisty."
He led the team to his backyard pool. When he got to his backyard he noticed that Guy was avoiding any kind of eye contact with him. He was really upset this time, probably more than he was earlier. Renée walked closer to get a better look at him.
"Oh God! How did he end up like this?"
"I-uh-I don't know. I just moved in yesterday night and had woken up this morning because I heard a strange sound. When I came to check I noticed that there was a whale in the pool."
To Thomas' horror, Renée approached Guy and touched his dorsal fin. Luckily Guy didn't move at all.
"His skin is dried up! Guys, please, get some water!"
Guy looked at Renée, then back at Thomas. After that, he closed his eyes, still visibly upset about the situation.
"Sir, I'm glad you called us as soon as you saw him because, clearly, this is an emergency. If we don't get this whale out of here, he will die."
This was the phrase that Guy didn't want to hear. If it wasn't for the fact that he will die in that pool, he could've just told the rescuers to leave him there and threaten to curse them if they told anyone else about him. After all, he's a talking whale. If that's something that could happen, then it's safe to say that they'll probably think that being cursed by a talking whale sounds plausible.
While the commotion was going on, Laurent and the others were in the living room reflecting on what they had witnessed.
"Guys, what the fuck was that?", Laurent asked.
"I don't know, man, but that was weird", Pedro replied.
"Weird? Dude, that was fucking insane!", Deadmau5 added.
"How the hell could this even be possible? I thought this shit only happened in fairy tales", Laurent wondered.
"I know right? This is like some Disney movie shit. This shouldn't happen in real life, but apparently it did for some reason", Deadmau5 agreed.
"He's not the only one", Skrillex said.
"What?" Deadmau5 replied in confusion.
"I said he's not the only one."
"Are you saying that you've seen this happen before?"
"Yes, Laurent. Well, actually, I've only heard rumors of some guy that apparently transformed into a humpback whale. Unfortunately, I don't know if the guy is still alive or if he died, but if this happened to Guy, then it's safe to say that one of us might be the next victim."
"So, it's a virus?", Pedro asked
"I don't know, but I hope it's not. I don't want to turn into a whale!"
"Either way, none of us wants to go through an experience like that", Laurent added.
"Yeah, I agree with you. Virus or not, I don't think anyone is willing to suffer the same fate as Guy-Man and that humpback guy that I mentioned."
Meanwhile, in the backyard, the rescuers had placed wet towels on Guy-Man's back to protect his skin. They were discussing the plans for Guy's transfer to the rescue facility. There were two options. The first option was to put him in a transport tank and drive all the way to the facility. The second one was to drive to the airport and load him into a cargo plane, fly to an airport that is close to the facility and then drive to the facility. They decided that the second option would be better because it was the quickest way to transfer him. This made Thomas worry. Guy was a nervous flier, so it's possible that he'll freak out when the plane takes off. There was a chance that someone was going to get hurt. Guy had already tried to bite Thomas, so being with him during that flight could end up being a death sentence for those who had to comfort him.
However, his awareness of the danger was still in a constant battle with his knowledge of Guy's kindness. Thomas knew that deep down, Guy was a very kind and caring individual. If you ignored the aggressive remarks, then you would be able to see his true colors. You just had to get on his good side. Though, the close call that Thomas had earlier still convinced him that staying away from him was the best idea.
Ten minutes had passed. It was the time to say goodbye to Guy. The rescue team brought in a crane to lift him up and put him in the transport tank. Before the crane lifted him up, Guy looked into Thomas' eyes for the last time. He then clutched his eyes shut and took a breath. They didn't have to use any words to say goodbye to each other.
Thomas watched as the crane slowly lifted his friend, who was still clutching his eyes shut. This was the final nail in the coffin. It made him feel guilty about the fact that he was throwing his best friend away to make him feel better. After seeing the look in Guy's face, he now thought that it was an oxymoron. How could he send him away even after all the begging?
Guy was finally loaded into the transport tank and within a few minutes, the truck that was carrying him was gone. Every single sign of Guy was gone. The only reminder of him were the remains of his clothes and the hair that had fallen off. The other guys had already left by the time he was gone. Thomas was now completely alone with no one to chat with. He had plans to write a new song, but he felt like it would be practically impossible to do it without Guy. He couldn't do it knowing that his friend was suffering after he sent him away.
It was nighttime. Thomas was getting ready to go to sleep. It was such a stressful day for him and his muscles were aching from having to carry Guy to the pool. He was so tired that he fell asleep almost as soon as he went to bed.
He was dreaming about being in the beach with Guy. They were writing songs for the next album. Halfway through writing the last song, they decided to take a break and go for a swim. Both of them were having so much fun. Guy-Man would create simple little challenges, like collecting the largest amount of sea shells, but there was one challenge that almost made Thomas' heart stop. The challenge was to swim as far away from the shore as he could. Though he was better at swimming than Guy, he didn't have the balls of steel that his friend had. He hesitantly accepted the challenge. Of course, Guy won the challenge because of his bravery, but he had another idea. He wanted to scare the living shit out of Thomas, so he dove into the deep blue sea and waited for him to get to where he was. As soon as he saw Thomas, he popped up and scared him almost to death. This made Guy laugh so hard that could've drowned. He dove down once more, but this time he didn't come back up. Thomas tried to look for him. However, his search was unsuccessful. When he went back to the surface it was nighttime and any signs of his friend had completely disappeared. He tried to look for him again, but he still couldn't find him. Suddenly, he felt a large mass swimming underneath him. It was swimming in circles repeatedly. Then it rammed him in the legs and swam away. That was terrifying. Not only did he lose his best friend, but he was also being targeted by a large predator.
A few minutes passed since the first attack. The creature was seemingly gone until it came back and grabbed Thomas. It pulled him down and held him there for a few seconds. He had enough time to take a good look at his attacker. It was a killer whale. It's flippers and dorsal fin were as big as Thomas. It's flukes were curled and it's eyes had blue irises with an oval shaped pupil that seemed to glow. The eyes seemed familiar to Thomas, mostly because of the color of the irises. They were the same shade of blue as his friend's eyes. In fact, they looked identical to Guy's eyes. Thomas was convinced that the whale was Guy. After Guy let him go, he went to take a breath. He called Guy-Man, but there was no response. Suddenly, Guy breached on top of him. Every time Thomas went back to the surface, Guy breached and submerged him. He was trying to kill him. Thomas wondered if there was anyway to get Guy to stop attacking him, but it seemed like Guy was nothing more than an animal with the instinct to kill. He watched Guy swim away towards the bottom. He was gone, but Thomas knew that he was going to comeback to finish him off. This was it. His fate had been sealed. Guy came rushing towards him from the bottom and opened his mouth to take a bite out of him. That's when he finally woke up.
He woke up shaking and sweating. That nightmare that he just had was the worst thing that he could ever experience. It only intensified his fear of his best friend. Despite this fear, Thomas decided to check if the facility had any private tours so that he could go to see if Guy-Man was doing well. Fortunately, they did have a private tour were they would guide guests through every single part of the facility and explain what they did. This was perfect. All he had to do was buy a ticket and drive down to the French Riviera. Maybe he could even apologize to Guy for coming off as a jerk who just wanted him gone as soon as possible.
